The Beagle Climbed Up to the Window and Found She Wasn't Alone
A red and white Beagle has hoisted her front paws onto the windowsill and is gazing out at the yard with that classic hound look of deep concentration. Beside her on the same bright ledge, a row of ducklings has lined up in the sunlight, looking the same way, their small heads bobbing at every movement outside. A blue curtain flutters at the window, and the afternoon glows.
Beagles are friendly, curious scent hounds, and a window with a view is a fine entertainment channel for them. Bred for tracking, they follow their noses with great determination, and they can be notorious for wandering off if a smell catches their attention. A secure fence and a leash on walks keep them safe, and food puzzles help keep that clever nose busy indoors.
Windowsills are popular with pets because they are warm and full of things to watch. Check that window screens are strong and that the sill is a safe height, especially for small animals who could tumble down. Sunlight is lovely, but a bright window can get hot in summer, so make sure everyone has a cooler place to retreat.
For now, the yard is quiet and the afternoon is long. Nobody on the sill is in a hurry to leave. A good view and good company are enough.
