A Dalmatian Looked Out at the Rain and Spotted a Visitor
Raindrops slide down the old window panes, and a Dalmatian has hopped onto the sill to see what is going on. Her spotted face is pressed close to the glass, and just on the other side, a chestnut horse is peering back in, its warm eyes and soft muzzle framed by the wooden frame. A potted plant and a stack of folded blankets sit on the sill, and the sky outside is soft gray. A soft light from inside warms the Dalmatian's spots while the horse's breath makes a small fog patch on the cold pane.
Dalmatians are lively, athletic dogs with a lot of stamina, and a rainy day can leave them feeling restless. Indoor activities like puzzle feeders, short training sessions and a game of hide and seek help burn off energy. They are usually affectionate with their families but can be sensitive, so gentle, positive training works best.
Rain is also a reminder to take care of outdoor animals. Horses need shelter from the wind and rain, and a dry place to stand. After wet weather, check hooves and coats for any irritation. A dry, clean stall or run-in shed makes a big difference.
The raindrops keep falling, and the two friends keep watching each other through the glass. Some of the best company is found on either side of a window. Rainy days are better with visitors.
