The Saint Bernard Puppy and the Pony Slept Through Dinner
A wood stove sits in the corner of the room with split logs stacked beside it, a pair of boots on the floor, and sunlight streaming through the window. On the wooden floor in front of it, a red and white Saint Bernard puppy lies with his big paws stretched out and his chin on the boards. Beside him, a shaggy brown pony is curled up and sound asleep.
Saint Bernards are giant dogs with a gentle nature, famous for their history of mountain rescue in the Alps. Puppies of this breed grow very fast and can be clumsy, so they need careful feeding and a calm approach to exercise, and your vet can guide you on growth and joint health. Their thick coats keep them warm in cold weather, and they tend to prefer cool places over hot ones.
A stove is a cozy centerpiece but a hazard if pets get too close. Metal surfaces can burn, and sparks can escape when a door is open. A guard around the stove and a bed placed a good distance away will keep everyone comfortable and safe. Ponies and other farm animals belong in a barn or stable, not close to a fire, but the picture gives a feeling of winter warmth all the same.
The two are deep in sleep, and the room is full of quiet and warmth. There is a lot of puppy and a lot of pony, and both are completely at ease. It looks like a good night is on the way.
