Snow Covered the Yard, but This Cat Kept the Puppy Warm Anyway

Snow has dusted the ground, but one small corner of it looks very warm. A grey Devon Rex with a wavy, velvety coat and big triangular ears is curled around a golden puppy, her head resting protectively over his neck. Her eyes are closed, her face wrinkled with calm. The puppy sleeps with his face in the snow, soft ear flopped to one side, as peaceful as if he were on a feather bed. A wooden fence and dry stalks in the background show the garden in winter, and a bit of ice and soil peeks through the white.

Winter is a time for extra care with pets. Devon Rex cats have a very short, fine coat and tend to feel the cold, so they are best kept indoors in freezing weather, and even a dog with a thick coat should not stay out long. Puppies lose body heat faster than adult dogs, so short outdoor trips and a dry, warm bed afterward are important. After time in snow, wipe paws to remove ice and salt, which can irritate skin. If your pet shivers, seems sluggish or has cold ears, bring it inside and talk to your vet.

What matters here is the friendship, which makes the chilly day feel a little warmer. Even in the snow, kindness works like a blanket.
