The Silver Cat Stayed Perfectly Still While the Puppy Napped on Her
Her whole belly is a pillow now. A silver Norwegian Forest Cat reclines on a soft carpet, her thick mane of grey and cream fur spread out, while a golden puppy sleeps on top with his cheek pressed into the fluff and one paw hanging forward. The cat does not move. Her green eyes look to the side with calm patience and a hint of pride, and her tufted ears stay upright. In the warm lamplight behind them, a wicker basket and a plant stand against a creamy wall. Every strand of her long silver coat seems to glow in the evening light.
Norwegian Forest Cats are built for cold weather, with a water-resistant outer coat over a dense woolly undercoat, and they tend to be sturdy, gentle and patient. Their calm nature makes them popular with families, though each cat is different. Long-haired cats need regular brushing, especially during seasonal shedding, to prevent mats. Young puppies often seek out warm, soft companions to sleep against, because they like to feel secure and warm. If your cat is patient with a puppy, praise her, and make sure she can leave when she wants to be alone.
The puppy is deeply asleep, and the cat knows it. She is happy to remain a very fluffy mattress for as long as it takes.
