A Tiny Maltese Stood Right Beneath a Curious Calf in the Yard

AI imagemaltesecalfbackyard

It looks like the calf is giving the little dog a ride, though the truth is likely that she is simply standing over him. A fluffy white Maltese with a pink collar is peering up with his tongue out, while a brown-and-white calf stands tall over his back with her head raised and her ears out. A porch light is glowing in the background and a few dry leaves speckle the grass of the yard.

The little Maltese weighs only a few pounds, and this is a good reminder that small dogs and big animals should never be left to play rough. A calf can weigh far more than a Maltese, and an accidental step or lean could hurt him badly. Supervised, calm time is fine, but it is wise to keep a gentle distance and use a cheerful voice.

Maltese dogs are known to be lively, affectionate and brave beyond their size. Their long white coats need frequent brushing, and their small frames mean they can get chilly easily, so a sweater is fine on cold evenings. Regular dental care matters in small breeds, too, and your vet can suggest a routine.

In the evening light, the two of them look as if they are heading out on an adventure. Clover seems very sure of herself, and her little friend appears to be thoroughly enjoying the view.
