Two Faces Peek Over the Garden Bed Edge to See What's Growing

AI imageaustralian shepherdlambgarden bed

A red merle Australian Shepherd rests her chin on the edge of a raised garden bed, her eyes in two different shades of blue and amber. At the other side a white lamb looks out from the soil with her chin on the wood, her small ears sticking out. Fresh green seedlings and herbs grow between them, and a green watering can sits behind. It looks like the two have discovered the same thing at the same moment, and both are curious about what's coming next. A leaf of mint rests near the dog's nose, and the lamb keeps her eyes on the dog.

Australian Shepherds are energetic and clever herding dogs, despite the name, developed in the western United States. They need a lot of exercise and a job to do, such as agility, training games or herding-style play, and they often bond tightly with their families. Red merle coats can come with eyes in different colors, and that is normal for the breed. Garden beds attract pets because of the smells, but fertilizers, mulch and compost can be harmful if eaten, so keep those out of reach. Lambs are natural nibblers too, so a low fence keeps the seedlings safe. Mental exercise like scent games is also a good outlet for a clever herding dog.

Whatever is growing in that bed has two very interested supervisors.
