A Beagle and a Lamb Sat Shoulder to Shoulder on the Porch Step
Sitting upright on a weathered wooden step, a lemon and white Beagle has her long ears hanging down and her head turned to the side. Next to her, Dumpling the lamb sits with her legs tucked and her face turned the same way. A house with pale siding and a green plant stand behind them, and a bit of grass grows through the boards. The Beagle's big brown eyes look thoughtful, and the lamb looks equally curious. They seem to be waiting for something to happen, or perhaps just enjoying the afternoon. A leaf drifts down from the tree above and lands on the lamb's back.
Beagles are friendly, curious scent hounds, bred to follow trails and work in packs. They are cheerful and sociable, and they usually enjoy the company of other animals. A Beagle's nose is powerful, which means she may wander off after a smell, so a secure yard or leash is important. They also love to eat and gain weight easily, so measured meals help. Sitting on a porch step is a good way for pets to watch the world, though make sure steps are sturdy and not slippery. Lambs enjoy sitting near a friend, too. Offer a water bowl nearby so both animals can stay refreshed.
The step is just wide enough for the two of them, and that's perfect. They sit like old friends.
