A Chocolate Havanese Leaned In by the Fireplace With His Lamb Friend
Pressed shoulder to shoulder, a chocolate-brown Havanese and a white lamb are tucked into a corner by the hearth. The dog's curls look like soft, dark ribbons, and his eyes are warm and sleepy. Dumpling leans her cheek into his coat, her ears relaxed. A stone fireplace holds a few logs behind them, and a basket of laundry, some books and a plush toy sit nearby. A pair of shoes waits by the door. The room is cozy and unhurried, and the two friends look like they have settled in for the evening. The dog's tail lies curled around the lamb's hooves.
Havanese are friendly, outgoing dogs that were bred as companions, and they are known for being affectionate and playful. They love to be around people and may follow family members from room to room. Their silky, long coats need regular brushing to stay free of tangles, and many owners keep them in a shorter trim. Warmth is welcome in cold months, but a fireplace deserves a sturdy screen, and pets and young animals should stay a safe distance from sparks and heat. Lambs need to stay warm and dry, too, so cozy rooms are good, as long as they're safe.
The logs are stacked and the evening is long, and the two of them lean in a bit closer. A log shifts in the hearth, and neither one flinches.
