Frost on the Glass, and Two Cozy Friends Watching the Snow
Frost patterns curl across the window glass, and just inside it a sable Pomeranian and a brown and white calf sit side by side on a knit blanket. The Pomeranian's thick, fluffy coat stands out around her face, her bright eyes alert, while the calf rests with head up and a calm look in its dark eyes. A basket and a plaid cloth are tucked in the corner of a cozy room, and a snowy yard waits outside.
Cold weather needs some thought for every animal. Pomeranians have a thick double coat, but they are tiny, so they still need to stay warm and not spend long outdoors in the freezing air. Calves are sensitive to the cold, especially when they are very young, and need dry bedding and shelter from wind and wet. Fresh water is also important, since troughs can freeze. A calf would normally be in a barn or sheltered pen, not a room like this, but the picture is a nice reminder of how animals look for warmth together. Ask your vet about keeping your animals comfortable in winter.
The two sit like friends at a winter cafe, watching the white world outside. The Pomeranian looks proud, and the calf looks peaceful. Nothing in the picture is hurried. It is the quiet, wrapped-up feeling of a winter day when the best plan is to stay in and keep each other company.
