The Boxer Gave His Orange Cat a Ride, and She Looked Right at Home
A fawn Boxer in a blue harness strolls across the backyard with the calm face of a driver on a familiar route. Stretched out on his back like a fluffy orange cushion, a longhaired cat surveys the yard with great confidence. Tools, a hose, and a toy shovel are scattered on the grass, and a porch light glows against a darkening sky. The leather harness looks well worn, and the grass is damp from an earlier shower.
Some cats and dogs form very close bonds, and a confident cat may choose a patient dog as a mobile perch. Boxers are strong, playful, and affectionate, and they tend to be gentle with family members once they know them. Still, it is best not to let a cat ride a dog regularly, since sudden movements could cause a fall or scare either one. Keep play sessions calm, and make sure both pets have equal attention and rewards.
The cat's tail hangs over the Boxer's hip, and her paws are tucked like she has taken this trip many times. The dog keeps his steps slow and even, a good sign that he's keeping his friend's comfort in mind. Even the Boxer's stern, wrinkled face seems a bit proud.
Where are they headed? Probably nowhere in particular. The best part of the ride is simply having a friend to share it with.
