A Cavalier Puppy Becomes a Pony's Favorite Pillow
A Cavalier puppy has flopped onto his back with his paws in the air, tongue slightly out and a goofy grin on his face. On top of him, a fuzzy brown pony has settled down with his chin resting right on the puppy's chest and his eyes shut tight. The scene takes place in a living room with a wooden floor, a woven rug and a couple of stuffed toys on the carpet behind them. A basket of blankets sits in the corner. The puppy looks perfectly happy with his heavy pillow.
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are known as affectionate, gentle lap dogs that thrive on companionship. They are often happiest when they're near their people, and many love a good belly rub. The breed can be prone to heart conditions, so regular check-ups with your vet are especially important. Dogs showing their belly are usually relaxed and trusting, though a dog that is stiff or tense is telling you something different. Horses also rest in several postures, including lying down for short naps, but they're big animals with strong legs, so any real contact with a puppy should always be carefully supervised.
In this cozy scene, both of them look utterly content. The puppy's silly smile and the pony's closed eyes tell the whole story. If there is such a thing as a perfect nap, this one is right up there.
