A Fluffy Bernese Puppy Plants a Kiss on a Very Patient Pony
The puppy is on tiptoe, or as close as a Bernese puppy gets. His tongue is out and he is giving the pony's cheek a thorough, loving lick. The pony stands tall and still, looking off into the distance with a calm, patient expression and a mane that has clearly been through a windy day. A pair of rubber boots sits by the wall and a green coat hangs on a hook. A potted plant stands near a bright window in the background.
Bernese Mountain Dogs originated in the Swiss farmlands, where they pulled carts and helped on the farm, so a farmyard setting suits them well. They are known for their gentle, loyal, family-friendly nature. Their thick tricolor coat means they enjoy cool weather and need regular brushing, especially during heavy shedding. Because they are large dogs, even a puppy benefits from early training in good manners. Licking is one way dogs show affection and curiosity, and puppies do it a lot when meeting new friends. As always, introductions between dogs and larger animals should be done slowly and with a person nearby.
The pony's calm face is the best part. He seems to take the kiss with perfect dignity, the way a grandfather might accept a hug from a very small visitor. Some friendships are built on patience, and this one has plenty.
