A Chocolate Lab and a Gray Tabby Settle Into the Straw Together
A single bulb hangs from a rough wooden beam, and below it, on a bed of straw, a chocolate-brown Labrador rests with his head up and his soft eyes looking off to one side. Curled against his chest is a gray tabby cat, her face tucked close to his front leg. Sacks and hay bales sit behind them and a yard with a fence and garden beds shows through the barn door. The warm light makes the dog's coat shine like polished wood.
Labrador Retrievers are friendly, outgoing dogs that tend to get along well with other animals and with people. They are known for their love of food, so measuring meals and offering healthy exercise helps prevent weight gain. A tabby coat is common among cats and the classic stripes come in many colors. If a Lab and a cat share a space, feeding them in separate areas can prevent any disputes, as Labs sometimes take an interest in cat food, which isn't suitable for dogs in large amounts. If you're unsure, talk to your vet.
The barn corner has a gentle, settled mood. The dog is relaxed, the cat is warm and the light is low. It's the kind of scene that suggests two friends who have long since stopped worrying about each other. The bulb hums, the straw rustles and the barn goes quiet, which is exactly how this pair seems to like it best.
