Two Quiet Friends Stopped to Take in the View Across the Pond
A pond lies quiet in the afternoon light, ringed with reeds and floating lily pads, and two friends have come to look at it. A little white Maltese sits in the foreground with his silky coat and his black button eyes turned off to the side, while a chestnut horse stands just behind him with his ears forward and his gaze toward the water. The world seems to hold its breath around them. The Maltese is Snowy and the horse is Copper.
Maltese dogs are small, gentle companions with long, silky white coats. They are playful and affectionate, and they often love to cuddle. Their coats need daily brushing to prevent tangles, and light-colored fur can show tear stains, so regular face cleaning helps. Horses enjoy water views too, and many are naturally drawn to the sound and smell of a pond.
Ponds are lovely to look at but can be risky for pets. Banks can be slippery, and some ponds contain algae or bacteria that can make animals sick. Keep dogs from drinking pond water and supervise them near the edge, especially small dogs who may not be strong swimmers. If your pet takes a dip, rinse them off afterward and talk to your vet if they seem unwell.
Snowy and Copper are both quiet, as if they have the same thoughts about the ripples. Some of the best moments are the calm ones.
