A Horse Leaned Out of the Barn Door, and a Goldendoodle Sat Down to Chat
The barn door is half open, and a chestnut horse has leaned his head out into the daylight. Right in front of him, an apricot Goldendoodle sits on the grass with his curly ears hanging and his face turned up toward his tall friend. Weathered boards, a fence, and a few garden pots frame the scene, and the afternoon light is warm. The Goldendoodle is Biscotti and the horse is Copper.
Goldendoodles are a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle, and they tend to be friendly, smart, and sociable. They usually love people and other animals and do best when they get daily exercise and attention. Their curly coats need regular brushing to prevent mats, and they often need a trim every few weeks. Horses are social creatures too, and many like to keep an eye on the world from their stall door.
Barns are fun places for dogs but also full of hazards. Hay dust, rodent bait, sharp tools, and loose nails can hurt a curious dog, so keep the space tidy and store anything harmful out of reach. Keep stall doors latched and supervise when your dog is near large animals. Your vet can advise you on parasite and vaccine protection for dogs who visit barns.
Biscotti looks content to sit and watch, and Copper looks glad to have the company. The barn door is a very good place for a conversation.
