The Maine Coon Wrapped Her Tail Around the Tiny Yorkie
The silver Maine Coon has curled into a perfect swirl on the woven farmhouse rug, and tucked into the curve of her body is a small Yorkshire Terrier. His blue-and-tan coat blends right into her striped grey fur, so at first glance it looks like one creature with two sleeping faces. A big plume of cat tail wraps around them both. A terracotta pot sits by the edge of the rug, and a few dry leaves have blown across the stone beyond it.
Maine Coons are one of the largest domestic cat breeds, known for their thick coats, tufted ears and friendly, relaxed personalities. They are sometimes called gentle giants and often get along with dogs. Yorkshire Terriers are small dogs with big personalities, and they tend to be alert, bold and devoted to their families. Despite their size, Yorkies have a terrier's confidence, so they sometimes act as though they are much bigger than they are. When a tiny dog lives with a large cat, supervision is wise, especially at the start, since the size difference can lead to rough play by accident. Make sure each pet has a safe retreat, and keep fur well groomed, since both breeds have long coats that can mat. A soft rug in a quiet corner is an ideal place for a nap, as long as the weather is mild.
Together they form one big, soft spiral of silver, blue and gold. Neither seems to mind being mistaken for the other.
