The Smallest Pumpkin on the Porch Has Whiskers
The smallest pumpkin on the porch has whiskers. A fluffy white kitten sits on a blue doormat outside the front door, dressed in a puffy orange pumpkin costume with a little brown stem and green leaves perched on top of its head. Its pale blue eyes look up with a soft, slightly bewildered expression, and its tiny white paws peek out from under the costume. Around it, the doorstep is set for Halloween, with small pumpkins, a pot of bronze mums, a pair of green gardening gloves, flip-flops, a canvas bag, and a scattering of autumn leaves.
Kittens are naturally curious, but most cats are not big fans of costumes. If you do dress up a kitten, choose something lightweight that does not cover the face, ears, or tail, and does not restrict movement or breathing. Introduce it slowly, offer treats, and keep it on just long enough for a quick photo. Watch for signs of stress, like flattened ears, a twitching tail, or freezing in place, and remove the costume right away if you see them. On Halloween night itself, it is safest to keep kittens and cats indoors, away from the open front door.
A costume like this is best enjoyed for exactly one sweet picture, followed by a warm blanket and a nap. Still, for that one moment, this little pumpkin could not have been more perfect.
