Among the Cobwebs and Gravestones, One Round Little Face Is Keeping Watch
Among the cobwebs and gravestones, one round little face is keeping watch. A cream Exotic Shorthair kitten peeks over a pair of gray tombstone decorations, its tiny paws resting on the edge of one stone. Fake spider webs stretch across the headstones, and the yard around them is scattered with fallen leaves, a plastic skeleton hand, a coffee cup, and tufts of black fluff. The kitten's flat face, small nose, and big copper eyes give it a wide-eyed, slightly worried look. Behind it, a carved jack-o'-lantern, a potted plant, and a coiled green hose sit by the house.
Exotic Shorthairs share the Persian's sweet, round face but have a short, plush coat that is much easier to groom. They are generally calm, affectionate, and playful in a gentle way. Halloween yard decorations can be risky for curious kittens. Stretchy fake cobwebs can tangle around small legs and are dangerous if swallowed, and small plastic parts are a choking hazard. Because of their short noses, flat-faced cats can also be more sensitive to stress and overheating. Keeping kittens indoors and away from yard displays, especially on busy nights, is the safest plan.
This tiny guardian of the graveyard may be trying to look spooky, but those big round eyes say otherwise. If ghosts are real, they would surely stop to say hello to this one.
