After the Presents Were Opened, a Bichon Puppy Napped in the Paper
Wrapping paper in green and white swirls is heaped on the table, and in the middle of it lies a white Bichon puppy, fast asleep. Tangled twine and bits of tape lie around him, and gifts, a mug and a pair of glasses sit in the background. A green throw hangs over the sofa, and golden ornaments shimmer in a box nearby. He looks like a snowball on a nest of festive paper.
After the unwrapping is done, a puppy's favorite thing may be the paper and boxes. A heap of crinkly paper is great fun, but swallowing paper, ribbon, tape or twine can cause problems in the stomach or intestines, so it is best to clean up promptly. Bichon Frises are small, cheerful dogs that love to be near people and play. They need regular grooming to keep their curly coats from matting. Puppies sleep a great deal, often up to eighteen hours a day when they are very young, and a busy holiday can leave them extra tired. Make sure there is a calm place to rest and fresh water nearby. Let sleeping puppies lie, but gently remove any bits of paper from beneath them when they wake. A small snack and a drink of water after the nap are always welcome.
The gifts are opened and the party is quiet. The little puppy has earned this soft, crinkly nap.
