The Golden Retriever Puppy Reported for Duty as One of Santa's Elves
The Golden Retriever puppy has gone full elf, with a red-and-green pointed hat, a green tunic with red trim and a cheerful, slightly puzzled look. His soft cream ears droop beneath the hat, and his dark eyes are warm. A sofa with plaid pillows, a scattering of gift bags and a few toys fill the room behind him. He looks as if he is wondering where the workshop is.
Golden Retrievers are friendly, gentle dogs known for their love of people. Puppies are eager to please, and many put up with costumes with good grace, though not all enjoy them. If you dress your pup, keep sessions short, make sure the outfit does not restrict movement, breathing or vision, and take it off if he looks uncomfortable. Offer treats and praise to make it a positive experience. Watch for small parts, bells or buttons that could be chewed off and swallowed. Never leave a dog in a costume unattended. Also consider the temperature in the room, since layers can make a fluffy puppy too warm. A quick photo and a cuddle are all that is needed, and then it is time for comfy fur again. Pick a costume that fits well, and let your puppy decide when he has had enough.
The hat is slightly crooked, and the puppy looks sincere. It is easy to believe he is ready to help Santa.
