A Small but Fearsome Creature Was Spotted Roaming the Neighborhood

A small but fearsome creature has been spotted roaming the neighborhood sidewalk. A tricolor Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, with a black, white and tan face and long feathery ears, marches along in a soft green dinosaur costume, complete with a hood lined with little spikes running down its back to the tail. Its big brown eyes look up with an expression somewhere between brave and unsure. Behind it, a house wears a fall wreath on the door, a carved jack-o'-lantern grins from the porch and leaves drift across the lawn and pavement.

Tricolor is one of the four standard Cavalier coat colors, featuring a black and white coat with rich tan markings above the eyes, on the cheeks and inside the ears. Cavaliers are gentle, affectionate dogs that generally love being with their people, which makes them good sports about walks and outings. If you take a costumed dog trick-or-treating, choose a reflective leash or light-up collar since it gets dark early, stick to familiar routes and keep the dog close when other costumed kids and pets pass by. Avoid costumes that drag on the ground or catch on shrubs, and bring water for longer walks.

Nobody in the neighborhood will be scared of this little dinosaur, but plenty will want to say hello. Extinct or not, this one is clearly here to collect admirers.
