Order Up: One Hot Dog, Extra Adorable, Served on the Front Lawn
Order up: one hot dog, extra adorable. A chocolate brown Chihuahua stands on the front lawn snugly tucked into a plush bun costume, complete with a stuffed sausage, a squiggle of yellow mustard and a dash of red ketchup along the top. Its tiny legs poke out the bottom, its oversized ears stand at attention and its big dark eyes look up as if waiting for applause. Behind it, the porch light glows over a front door, pumpkins sit by the steps and leaves dot the grass as evening sets in.
The hot dog costume is a classic for small dogs, and Chihuahuas wear it especially well. When choosing any costume, check that it fastens securely without pinching, does not drag on the ground and leaves plenty of room for normal movement and bathroom breaks. Chihuahuas are tiny and get cold easily, so a costume can actually double as a little extra warmth on a cool October night, as long as the dog does not overheat. Outdoors after dark, keep small dogs on a leash, since they can be hard for drivers and passersby to see, and an unexpected scare could send them running.
This little frank may be the smallest snack on the block, but it is getting all the attention. Some costumes are scary, some are clever, and some are simply too cute to handle.
