Easily the Biggest Bumblebee Anyone Has Ever Seen
Easily the biggest bumblebee anyone has ever seen, this red and white Saint Bernard lies stretched out on a carpet of autumn leaves in a fuzzy yellow and black striped costume. A pair of pom-pom antennae bob on top of its head, sheer little wings stick out from its back, and those big, droopy eyes look up with an expression of patient resignation. The leaves have been scattered across the living room floor for a festive photo, while a cozy couch with a knit blanket, a basket, a lamp, a houseplant and a slippered foot peek in from around the edges.
Saint Bernards are famously gentle, mellow dogs, which can make them surprisingly tolerant costume models. Even so, large, heavy-coated breeds overheat easily, and a plush costume adds extra warmth on top of all that fur. Keep costume sessions short, make sure the outfit does not restrict breathing, movement or drooling, and choose a spot that is cool and comfortable. Watch for signs of discomfort like heavy panting, pawing at the costume or trying to wriggle out. Large breeds also benefit from soft, supportive surfaces to lie on, especially as they get older and their joints need more care.
This bee may not be doing any buzzing or pollinating, but it is definitely the sweetest thing in the hive. A gentle giant in stripes is a Halloween look that is hard to beat.
