A Gingerbread House Sat on the Table, and a Poodle Puppy Stood Guard
Sitting on a wooden table in the glow of kitchen lights, an apricot Poodle puppy poses beside a small gingerbread house. Its curls are tight and soft, its ears are fringed, and its dark eyes meet the camera with a hopeful, innocent look. The little house has white icing trim, cookie-shingled roof, and tiny candy details. Behind them, a dish towel, a cup, and a sprig of pine with a dried orange slice add to the cozy kitchen.
Poodles are bright, eager learners, and puppies of the breed enjoy training games, simple tricks, and puzzle toys. Their curly coats need regular brushing and grooming to prevent matting, and they shed little. A gingerbread house is a lovely decoration, but not a snack for dogs. Ginger and spices like nutmeg can upset a dog's stomach, and icing and candy are packed with sugar and sometimes xylitol, which is toxic. Place such treats where a puppy cannot reach them, and call your vet if a dog does sample some.
The little guest of honor, perhaps called Apricot, seems very well behaved. She sits tall and stays close to the house, as if standing guard. A decorated gingerbread house and a curly puppy make a sweet, classic holiday picture, and the whole kitchen seems to smile at the pair. Poodle puppies tend to hold their poses well, and this one looks like a natural model.
