The Orange String Lights Came On at Dusk. Someone Was Already Sitting Underneath.
Warm orange lights twinkle overhead as dusk settles over the porch, and a fluffy tricolor Bernese Mountain Dog puppy sits right beneath them. Its glossy black coat, rusty cheeks and legs, and bright white chest and paws make it look almost like a little plush toy. The pup gazes off to the side with soft brown eyes and a calm, dreamy expression, as if listening to the sounds of trick-or-treaters down the street. Fallen leaves are scattered across the wooden boards, a small pumpkin and some dried plants sit by the front door, and the gray house glows in the evening light.
Bernese Mountain Dogs are loving, easygoing family companions that tend to bond closely with their people. They grow into large dogs, so early training and gentle socialization help them become well-mannered adults. Outdoor holiday decorations are worth checking with a puppy around. String lights should be hung high and their cords secured or tucked away, since chewing on electrical cords can cause burns or shocks. Unplug outdoor lights when no one is around, and keep extension cords out of paths where a curious pup might play or tug.
Under the glow of those orange lights, this fluffy pup looks like the perfect welcome committee for Halloween night. It may not hand out candy, but it would definitely hand out some very soft cuddles.
