A Fluffy White Kitten Was Not Sure About the Little Reindeer Sweater
A cloud with blue eyes has been dressed in knitwear. The white Persian kitten sits upright on a cream blanket, wearing a tiny cable-knit sweater decorated with brown reindeer and red buttons, her pink nose and tiny ears giving her an astonished expression. Behind her are scraps of pine, a green plaid throw and a holiday garland, all slightly out of focus and glowing in warm light.
Persians are long-haired, flat-faced cats with calm, sweet personalities and a need for steady grooming. Their silky coats tangle easily, so daily brushing is the norm, and their faces should be wiped gently to keep tear stains in check. Kittens often dislike clothing, since it changes how they feel their own movement, so introduce a sweater gradually, keep sessions short, and watch for signs of stress such as freezing, flattening the ears or trying to bolt. Make sure it is loose enough for comfortable walking, and never leave a cat unattended in clothing. Most indoor cats do not need sweaters at all unless the vet advises it.
For a few photogenic minutes, the sweater is a triumph and the kitten is a very serious fashion model. Soon it will be off and she will be back to patting at the nearest ribbon, looking for her next adventure, none the worse for her brief career in fashion.
