One Tiny Package Under the Tree Had Blue Eyes and a Cream Coat
Gifts wrapped in brown paper and twine surround a small seal point Birman kitten, who sits among them with wide blue eyes, as if she has just popped out of one. Sprigs of pine and pine cones tie the packages, the tree's low branches hang over her head and a window brightens the room. Her cream coat and darker face make a sweet contrast with the plain paper.
Birman kittens are born nearly white and slowly develop their darker points on the face, ears, legs and tail over the first months. They are gentle, affectionate cats that tend to enjoy company and quiet play. The space under a Christmas tree feels like a den, so many cats love it, but it comes with risks: tree water can contain additives, ornaments can fall and wires can be chewed, so cover the stand and keep cords unplugged and tucked away. Twine and ribbon are tempting but dangerous if swallowed. A cat bed or box near the tree with a favorite toy gives her a safe den of her own for hiding.
Among the presents, the smallest one has the biggest eyes and the sweetest face. She is wrapped in nothing more than fluff, and it is clear that she is the gift everyone hoped for, and she knows it perfectly well, so she waits for her moment to be discovered.
