A Blue-Grey Kitten Found the Coziest Spot in the Whole House
Curled into a ball and tucked into a thick red knitted blanket, a blue-grey British Shorthair kitten sleeps on the sofa without a care. Her chin rests on her paws, her round cheeks are soft and her breath makes the wool rise and fall. Behind her, a Christmas tree glows with lights and silver ornaments, a lamp casts a warm circle on the wall and dusk is settling over the window.
Kittens need a lot of sleep, often well over half the day, and they love soft, warm, enclosed spots because it echoes the feeling of a nest. A blanket on the couch can be perfect, but make sure the weave has no loose loops where claws could get caught, and avoid heated pads set too high. A regular routine of play, then a meal, then a nap helps young cats settle. British Shorthairs are known for calm, easygoing personalities and thick, plush coats, and they typically enjoy cuddles on their own terms. If she often sleeps in odd places, offering a bed with raised sides can help her feel secure.
The tree twinkles, the evening quiets and the kitten sleeps through all of it. Sometimes the best part of the holidays is a warm blanket and nowhere you have to be and a cozy room full of twinkling lights.
