A Calico Cat Turned Into a Very Small, Very Calm Dinosaur
Rawr, said nobody, because the dinosaur is a cat. A calico sits on the sidewalk in a soft green hooded costume with little spikes running down its back, the hood framing her white face and orange and black patches. Her ears peek out beside the hood and her eyes look off to the side, as if she is deciding which direction to roam. A pot of orange mums and a carved pumpkin sit in the yard behind her.
Calico cats are known for their patchwork coat patterns, and nearly all calicos are female. A hooded costume can be fun, but cats are not always comfortable with things on their heads. Introduce it slowly, let her sniff it, and reward her with a treat. Ensure the hood does not cover the eyes or ears and the costume does not restrict walking, and take it off if she freezes or tries to escape it. Outdoors on a sidewalk, keep a cat on a harness and leash or hold her, since a startled cat can bolt. Many cats prefer to skip costumes entirely, and a festive collar might be enough for them.
The little dinosaur has a very good poker face, and she seems to be thinking about her next move. Whatever she does, she has the best costume on the block, and the neighborhood will be talking about it all night.
