This Silver Kitten Is the Fiercest Pirate on the Porch Steps
Standing on the edge of a concrete step, a silver tabby kitten has become the smallest pirate on the block. A black hat with a skull, an eye patch and a navy vest complete the outfit, and the one visible round eye stares into the distance as if spotting a treasure ship. Striped tail, thick white paws and bold swirls on the coat give this crew member plenty of character. Behind the captain, pumpkins, leaves and cobwebs fill a porch.
Dressing a kitten for Halloween should be a short and optional adventure. Many cats dislike costumes, and signs of stress include flattened ears, a lowered body, hissing or trying to hide. If your kitten tolerates a hat or vest, keep it light, let her move freely and remove it if she gets upset. Cats should never wear anything over their eyes, and loose bits that could be chewed should stay off the outfit.
British Shorthair kittens are sturdy, round-faced cats with dense, plush coats. They are often calm and easygoing, though they can be playful in short bursts. They tend to be happy to sit nearby rather than on a lap, and many adore a good feather toy. Their thick coat sheds seasonally, so a weekly brush keeps it neat.
This pirate does not look interested in the cobwebs or the pumpkins. There are seas to sail, even if they are mostly concrete.
