A Tricolor Corgi Puppy Fell Asleep After the Thanksgiving Feast
On a red, green and navy plaid blanket, a tricolor Corgi puppy has curled into a perfect little ball. The white paws tuck neatly under the chin, the dark fluffy tail curls around the body and the tiny eyes are shut tight. In the background, the table is still dressed with plates, a skillet of roasted vegetables, pumpkins and eucalyptus, and a window glows with soft light.
After a long day, a young puppy can sleep deeply, and it's best to let her rest. Puppies need many hours of sleep a day to grow and learn, and a nap in a safe spot is the best recovery. Keep leftover food out of reach, since the table is still full of rich dishes that aren't safe for dogs, and move bones and wrappers to a closed trash can.
Corgis are lively, intelligent herding dogs that make charming companions. They have long bodies and short legs, which means it's important not to let them jump from heights. As puppies, they are playful and curious, and they have plenty of energy. A good routine of play, training and rest helps them grow into well-mannered adults.
The feast is over, and the quiet has settled. For one tiny Corgi, the best part of the holiday was the nap. Somewhere in her dreams, there may even be a slice of plain turkey.
