A Gray Kitten Sat Among the Harvest Gourds Like a Soft Decoration
A round gray kitten with a squished little face and big copper eyes sits among the harvest decorations on a wooden porch. Colorful gourds in green, orange, and cream sit at her feet, dry corn stalks lean behind her, and a fence and trees stretch across the yard in the distance. She looks mildly puzzled, as though she wasn't sure she had agreed to be part of the display.
Exotic Shorthairs are quiet, gentle cats that tend to enjoy lounging near their people. Their flat faces mean they may snore or breathe noisily, and they should be kept from heavy exertion or heat. A vet visit can help owners understand whether a particular cat's breathing is normal. In general, a calm environment and a cool room are best for a flat-faced breed.
Keep decorations like corn husks and gourds in mind as well. Dry husks can be a choking hazard, and small ornamental gourds are best kept out of reach of a kitten that likes to chew. A kitten who is simply sitting and watching, like this one, is usually safe enough, but a quick look around the porch before the party starts is wise. She seems content to blend in with the colors of the season. A few dry leaves rustle past her, and she watches them go without moving a whisker. Some cats are born to be watchers, and she is clearly one of them.
