A Cream Kitten Moved Into a Blanket Fort Next to the Pumpkin Pie
The pie has already been cut, and a cream Scottish Fold kitten is keeping a close eye on it from her nest of orange knitted wool. She is wrapped up to her chin, her little folded ears pressed flat against her round head, and her big amber eyes are looking straight ahead. A plaid cloth, a few small pumpkins, and a sunny window frame the busy kitchen corner behind her.
Cats are drawn to warm, soft places, and a blanket close to the oven or a sunny counter is nearly impossible for them to resist. It's worth remembering that kitchen counters hold hazards, though, from hot pans to foods that are unsafe for pets. Pie crust, butter, and spices like nutmeg are not good for cats, so keep desserts covered and give your kitten her own cozy bed and a safe treat instead.
Scottish Folds are known for their sweet, calm natures and their gentle, quiet voices. Their folded ears are the result of a natural gene, and because the same gene can affect cartilage elsewhere in the body, responsible breeders and vets pay close attention to joint health. If you have a Fold, regular vet visits are a good idea. For now, this little one is warm, safe, and apparently very sure that the pie is part of her blanket fort. It is a sweet, quiet moment in the middle of a busy holiday kitchen.
