Winston Went Face First Into a Snowbank and Came Out Frosted

Snow has stuck to every wrinkle on the Bulldog puppy's face, turning him into a little white-frosted statue with two dark eyes peering out from the middle. His nose is crusted white, his folds are packed full of flakes, and a few stray brindle patches show through along his ears. He doesn't seem bothered one bit. He just stares ahead, waiting with great patience to see what happens next. The porch behind him glows faintly, and a dark tire rim peeks in at the edge of the snowy frame.

Bulldogs have deep facial folds, and moisture trapped in them can irritate the skin, so a gentle wipe with a soft, dry cloth after snow time is a good idea. Their short muzzles also mean they can overheat in warm weather and have a tougher time with extremes of any kind, so short, supervised outings work best. Check with your vet about weather and care for a flat-faced breed.

Bulldog puppies are famous for their sweet, sometimes stubborn, but mostly loving personalities. They enjoy lounging near their families and can be surprisingly goofy when something new arrives, like a mountain of snow that suddenly appears in the yard. Keep play gentle and let him rest when he wants to. Puppies this young also tire quickly, so a warm towel and a quiet nap afterward are the perfect finish to snow day.

Call him Winston. He may look like a snowman who lost his carrot, but under all that frost, there's a warm and very contented pup.
