Honey Sat Beside the Snowman Like They Were Old Friends
Sitting up straight in the fresh snow, the golden Retriever puppy looks like the snowman's proud sidekick. The snowman wears a red plaid scarf, a bright orange carrot nose, and a row of buttons, and a pine wreath with a red bow hangs on the green door behind the pair. The puppy's soft, creamy fur and dark brown eyes give him an innocent, hopeful look as he waits for something wonderful.
Golden Retriever puppies are known for their sweetness and their love of people. They are playful, trainable, and usually get along well with children and other pets. They also have a strong urge to put things in their mouths, so a carrot nose or scarf can be very tempting. A little carrot isn't harmful in small amounts, but keep an eye on anything he chews, and keep scarves out of reach to avoid swallowed fibers.
The snow is a great training setting too. Practice sit and stay for a few seconds, then reward with praise and a treat. Short, upbeat sessions are best for a young puppy, and a warm dry-off at the door ends the day on a happy note. Check with your vet about your puppy's age and how much winter play is right for him.
We'll call him Honey. The snowman has been waiting for a friend, and Honey is clearly happy to volunteer.
