Ginger Watched the First Snow of Christmas Eve From the Window
Perched on the wooden windowsill with his front paws crossed, the red and white Corgi puppy watches snow drift through the early evening air. His tall ears point forward, and his profile is lit by the amber glow of a lamp beside him. Outside, the yard is dusted with white, and shrubs and a wooden fence fade into the blue dusk, while a soft grey blanket sits at the edge of the window.
Corgis are herding dogs with plenty of personality and a deep love for their families. Their fluffy coat is a double coat, which helps keep them warm, and they're sturdy little dogs despite their short legs. Corgi puppies are curious and energetic, and they're quick to learn, so a window watch is a great way to enjoy something new. Because their backs are long, it's best to discourage jumping from heights and to help them off furniture.
Falling snow can be very exciting to a puppy who has never seen it. Letting him watch quietly from a safe window is a gentle introduction, and when he is ready, a short supervised trip outside lets him explore at his own pace. A treat and a bit of praise for staying calm turns a new sight into a happy memory.
We'll call him Ginger. He's sure the snow was ordered just for him, and he's not planning to look away.
