Rosebud Grabbed the Ribbon and Started Unwrapping the Gift
Rearing up on her hind legs, the pale pink Sphynx kitten grips a long satin ribbon in both front paws, her wrinkled forehead creased in concentration. Wide ears flare like satellite dishes, and her big eyes stay locked on the ribbon. A kraft-wrapped present sits below her, and a glowing tree, a mug, a pair of glasses, and a slipper decorate the warm living room behind her.
Ribbon is one of the most dangerous holiday items for cats. A kitten who swallows a length of ribbon or string can develop a serious blockage, which is a medical emergency. Never let a kitten chew on ribbon unsupervised, and put away wrapping supplies as soon as you're done. Safer alternatives include a wand toy with a soft attachment, a crinkle ball, or a paper bag to explore.
Sphynx kittens are energetic, curious, and affectionate. With no fur to insulate them, they love warm laps and cozy spots, and they often seek out human attention. Their skin can get oily, and they may need regular gentle cleaning, so talk to your vet about a care routine. They are also fond of climbing and playing, so plenty of interactive toys will keep her entertained and out of trouble.
We'll call her Rosebud. She has found the best toy under the tree, and she's making the most of it before anyone notices.
