Ash the Sphynx Kitten Napped on the Ledge Under the Stockings
Stretched out along a rustic wooden ledge, the grey Sphynx kitten sleeps beneath a row of knitted stockings in cream, red, and green. His ears are folded back, his wrinkled skin falls in soft folds, and his tail curls around his body. A garland of greenery hangs from the mantel above, and a wicker basket with a cozy blanket sits at the edge of the room.
Sphynx kittens have no fur, so they lose body heat faster than most cats and tend to nap in warm places. They'll curl up against a sunny window, a heater vent, or a person's lap, and they may be very fond of blankets. A soft bed lined with something warm gives them a safe place to rest. Keep them away from fireplaces and heaters that could burn their skin, and ask your vet for advice about winter care.
A high shelf is a favorite perch for cats of every kind. Cats feel safest when they can survey their territory from above, and a snug ledge near the activity is the perfect compromise. If your kitten likes high places, provide a sturdy cat tree or a window perch so he's not tempted to climb on decorations. Check that the shelf is stable and that any ornaments or candles nearby are out of reach.
We'll call him Ash. He's keeping an eye on the stockings in his sleep, and he's sure they'll be filled with tuna.
