A Curious Cocker Spaniel Meets the Jack-o'-Lantern Nose to Nose
A curly black Cocker Spaniel stands on a concrete step with his nose pointed toward a carved pumpkin, which glows from inside with a soft orange light. The pumpkin's triangle eyes and jagged smile are lit up, and the dog looks at it with careful curiosity, tongue just visible. Behind them a basket, a pair of shoes and a pot of mums sit by the doorway.
Cocker Spaniels are gentle, affectionate sporting dogs known for their silky ears and cheerful nature. They are curious and very nose-driven, so a new object on the step is naturally something to investigate. They tend to be quick learners and love being part of the family, though their long ears need regular checking and cleaning.
A lit jack-o'-lantern is a lovely decoration, and a candle inside can be a hazard for a dog. A wagging tail or a sniffing nose can knock it over, singeing fur or starting a fire. Battery-powered candles keep the glow without the risk. Don't let a dog eat a carved pumpkin that has been sitting out for days, either, since it can get moldy and upset his stomach.
For now, the Cocker just studies the glowing face with his gentle expression. It seems the pumpkin has made a new friend, or at least a very polite visitor. Soon the sniffing will end, the tail will wag, and the glow will light up one more happy evening.
