A Corgi Wearing Little Bat Wings Welcomes Guests on the Porch
The wings are small and black, tucked on the back of a sable Corgi who sits on the porch steps with his ears at full attention. His big brown eyes, white chest and soft smile make him look more like a friendly sidekick than a bat. Around him, pumpkins, gourds, dried corn and mums fill the porch, and a dark blue door shows in the background.
Corgis are cheerful, intelligent herding dogs with short legs, big ears and a lot of confidence. Originally bred to herd cattle, they are lively and quick, and many love games and training. They also have long backs and short legs, so avoid letting them jump from high places and keep them at a healthy weight, which your vet can help you judge.
When a dog wears wings or other costume extras, make sure they sit securely without pulling on the neck or legs. Skip anything with elastic that is tight or parts that could come off and be swallowed, and take it off if he seems bothered. A leash is a good idea on Halloween night, since open doors and excited visitors can tempt even a well-behaved dog to dash out.
The porch is lovely and the bat is cheerful. It is hard to say who looks prouder, the Corgi or the pumpkins surrounding him.
