A Boxer in a Fuzzy Bee Costume Takes the Leaf Pile Very Seriously
Yellow-and-black fuzz wraps around a brindle Boxer from the antennas on his hood to the little wings on his back. He sits in a drift of crunchy leaves, brown eyes looking sideways with a hint of resignation, a stray leaf stuck to his costume. Behind him, a porch with a jack-o'-lantern, shoes and a doormat sits in the autumn light.
Boxers are playful, energetic, loyal dogs, often called the clowns of the dog world because of their goofy, bouncy spirit. They tend to stay puppyish for years and love to be around people. Their short coats and flat-ish faces mean they can overheat in warm weather, so they need shade and water, and they don't do well in extreme cold either.
If your dog wears a costume, check how it fits. A hood shouldn't cover the eyes or ears completely, and the outfit shouldn't chafe under the legs or around the neck. Let him get used to it for a few minutes at home first, and use treats to make it a good experience. Supervise him while he wears it, since dangling bits can be chewed and swallowed.
In this case, the bumblebee is a good sport. He may not be thrilled, but he sits very still in his wings, a gentle buzz of Halloween spirit. Once the costume comes off, he will surely bounce back to being a happy, wiggly dog, and the leaf pile will still be waiting.
