A Maltese Puppy Sat at the Frosty Window Watching the Winter Morning
A fluffy white Maltese puppy sits in the golden morning light, gazing at a frosted window. The glass is covered in feathery ice crystals, and a wreath of evergreen, pinecones and dried orange slices hangs on the pane. Behind him, a sofa with a cream blanket, a plaid shirt tossed over a chair and a pair of slippers on the floor give the room a gentle, lived-in feel.
Maltese are small, silky-coated dogs with sweet, playful personalities. They love being near their people and they are often alert, quick to notice when something interesting happens outside the window. Their long coat needs regular brushing, and because they are tiny, they can feel the cold quickly, so a short winter walk, perhaps with a little sweater, is plenty.
Window time is a great pastime for puppies, but a few things are worth checking. Keep the glass and screen secure, and make sure he cannot reach a wreath, since dried fruit, pinecones and some greenery can upset his stomach if chewed. A cozy spot with a soft blanket or bed near the window gives him a comfortable lookout. Ask your vet which holiday plants are unsafe.
He sits quietly and looks, as if the frost might spell out a message just for him. Whatever it says, he looks fully content to wait for it.
