The Border Collie Puppy Studied the Snowman Very Carefully
Snow has settled over the yard, the porch light is glowing, and one fluffy black and white Border Collie puppy has taken a seat right next to the snowman. The snowman wears a red plaid scarf, a bright orange carrot nose, and stick arms, and the puppy studies him with soft, serious eyes. Behind them a wreath hangs on a dark front door, and a dusting of flakes sits on the puppy's ears.
Border Collies are famous for brains and energy, and even as puppies you can see the thoughtful stare that comes with it. That intelligence is a gift, but it means they do best with plenty to do: short training games, puzzle toys, and gentle walks that grow longer as they mature. Cold weather is also worth a thought. A thick coat helps, but puppies chill faster than adult dogs, so keep snowy playtime short, dry their paws and belly afterward, and wipe off any road salt before they lick it. If you are ever unsure how much cold your pup can handle, talk to your vet.
For now, though, this little guy seems perfectly content to sit still and size up his new frosty neighbor. Maybe he is wondering why this friend never wiggles back. Maybe he is just enjoying the quiet of a snowy evening, with the lights coming on up and down the street. Either way, the snowman has found himself a loyal guard.
