Biscuit Sat Next to the Gingerbread House and Stayed Very Still
A small cream Havanese puppy sits at the edge of a wooden table, gazing off to the side while a gingerbread house sits just in front of him. The house has white icing along the roof, round candies, and little iced windows and doors, and a few crumbs lie scattered nearby. Light from a tall window softens the whole room, and a sprig of pine rests next to a folded cloth.
Havanese are small, sturdy companion dogs known for being cheerful, social, and happiest near their people. Their silky coats are lovely but need regular brushing to prevent tangles, and many owners keep the hair trimmed shorter to make life easier. They tend to be smart and eager to please, which makes them fun to train with treats and praise. Because they love company, they usually do not enjoy being left alone for long stretches.
The gingerbread house is a good reminder about holiday baking and pets. Gingerbread often contains spices like nutmeg that are not good for dogs in large amounts, and icing and candy decorations can be sugary or contain ingredients that upset a dog's stomach. Keep finished houses on a high shelf or in a room the dog cannot enter, and sweep up crumbs. We will name this careful fellow Biscuit. He looks like he knows exactly how tempting that roof is, and for the moment he is practicing very good manners, sitting politely and keeping his paws to himself.
