The Stockings Were Hung With Care. Then Pickle Fell Asleep Under Them.
Three stockings hang from a garland-draped mantel, one cream, one red, one forest green, and right below them a small black and silver Schnauzer puppy has fallen fast asleep. His chin rests on a chunky knit blanket, his paws are tucked under him, and his wiry little eyebrows are relaxed at last. Behind him the room is full of small signs of a happy day: a plush bunny in a basket, a mug, wooden toys, and a warm glow from the window.
Miniature Schnauzers are sturdy, alert little dogs with the bushy eyebrows and beard that make them so recognizable. They are known for being lively and watchful, and many love to announce visitors, so a bit of early training about quiet time pays off. Their wiry coat needs regular grooming, and most owners schedule trims every several weeks. Puppies of every breed need a lot of sleep, often most of the day, so a calm spot away from the busiest foot traffic is a kindness during a noisy holiday week.
