Onyx Got Tangled in the Fake Spider Web and Looked Very Calm About It

AI imageblack kittenhalloweenspider web

The spider web was supposed to hang on the wall. Instead, a fluffy black kitten has made it her own, and white strands cross her back, her face, and her paws as she lies on the carpet looking slightly baffled. Her amber eyes are fixed on something nearby, her ears are alert, and a carved pumpkin, a basket of clothes, and a lamp glow softly behind her.

Stretchy fake cobwebs are a well-known Halloween hazard for pets. The fibers can wrap around legs and necks, and a cat who chews them can swallow strands that may cause serious trouble in the stomach and intestines. If you decorate with webbing, keep it high, away from where animals play, and think about skipping it altogether if you have a curious kitten. If your cat gets tangled, stay calm and gently remove the strands. Call your vet if she swallowed any.

Black cats are sometimes unfairly linked with bad luck, but they are just as sweet and playful as any other cat, and they often look great in a photo. We will call this little one Onyx, after her glossy coat. She seems calm in her cobweb nest, and she is probably not at all bothered. Still, it is time for someone to come and help her out, and maybe to trade the web for a toy that is safe to bat and chase.
