A Ragdoll Kitten Gets Very Close to the Gingerbread House
A little gingerbread house sits on a kitchen table, decorated with white icing, round candies and two orange gumdrops on the roof. Just beside it sits a fluffy seal point Ragdoll kitten, whose blue eyes and cream coat make her look almost like she belongs on the cake stand herself. A plaid blanket draped over a chair and winter light through the window give the kitchen a cozy, flour-dusted feel.
Ragdolls are a large, fluffy breed known for gentle, mellow temperaments. Kittens grow up slowly, taking a few years to reach full size, and their silky coats need regular brushing to prevent tangles. Their blue eyes and pointed coloring are part of what makes them so recognizable. They tend to enjoy staying near their people, which probably explains why this one has pulled up to the baking project.
Baking season can be hazardous for pets, though. Gingerbread and frosting are sugary, and many treats contain ingredients that are unsafe for cats and dogs. Chocolate, raisins and certain sweeteners can be harmful, so it is best to keep decorated treats well away from curious noses, and call your vet if a pet gets into something. Candy decorations can also pose a choking risk.
We will call her Marshmallow. She is sitting with excellent manners, and the gingerbread house stays safe, at least for the moment. Any cat who can resist that much sugar deserves a little extra cuddle.
