A Black Labrador Sits Tall in His Witch Hat on a Hay Bale
Perched on top of a hay bale like a very polite witch, a black Labrador sits tall with a pointed black hat balanced on his head. His amber eyes are lifted and his muzzle shows a few gray whiskers, which gives him a wise, gentle look. Behind him is a porch with corn stalks, a basket of gourds, a few pumpkins and a pair of tall rubber boots by a blue pail full of leaves.
Labrador Retrievers are famously friendly, eager to please and good with families. They usually love food and play, and many enjoy fetch and swimming. Because Labs can gain weight easily, measured meals and regular exercise help them stay healthy, and a vet can suggest a diet plan that suits your dog's age and activity.
A hat is among the easiest costumes for a dog to wear because it leaves the body free, but it should have a comfortable, adjustable chin strap that is not too tight, and it should not tip over his eyes. If he shakes it off, it is a sign to call it done. Hay bales are a fun photo spot, though dogs should not nibble the straw, which may upset the stomach.
We will call this witch Midnight. He has the stillness of a dog who knows he looks good and does not need to prove it. There are no spells today, only a calm autumn afternoon and a very good boy on the best seat on the porch.
