A Bearded Schnauzer Puppy Studies the Pumpkin Patch Like a Professor
A scruffy salt and pepper puppy sits straight and tall in the middle of a pumpkin patch, his whiskery beard and long gray eyebrows giving him the look of a tiny old professor. Orange pumpkins of all sizes surround him on every side, and dry straw and vines cover the ground. Behind him, a house with a porch and dried corn stalks sits in the sunlight, and his dark eyes are fixed on something just beyond the picture.
Miniature Schnauzers are small, sturdy dogs with a bold personality, a wiry coat and a famous beard. They are alert and clever, and they tend to be devoted family companions. Their coat needs regular grooming, including trimming and brushing, to stay neat. Puppies need early socialization and training, since a Schnauzer can be vocal and very determined when it has an opinion.
A pumpkin patch is a pleasant place to visit, but a young puppy should be kept on a leash, since there is plenty to chew or swallow, like vines, dirt and rotten pumpkins. Plain pumpkin is a healthy treat in small amounts for many dogs, but not the stems and not anything moldy. Before visiting busy outdoor places, make sure your puppy is up to date on vaccinations, and ask your vet when it is safe.
We will call him Professor Pepper. He seems to be studying each pumpkin with the greatest seriousness. A very thoughtful puppy in a very orange field is hard to resist.
